On Going Project...

So I decided to blog about our house. It has been forever and I hardly posted picture when we moved in. My style has changed in so many ways and it is taking one step at a time, hoping one day it will look how I want. When Todd and I got married my style was very modern and our furniture and decor reflects that, now I'm very vintage inspired. I love everything old, redone, and with tons of character!! I have had so many ideas running through my head that I figured maybe just maybe if I blog about it that I will have a little more push to complete it! My first big project is the laundry room/entry room. I hate that the best and easiest way to enter our house is through our laundry room. We have a front door, but no one uses it as you can't even see in when you pull in. They remodeled the home before we bought it and this is one thing they DID NOT think through, why or why didn't they move it down into the basement with lets say the water heater is a question I will never get an answer for. A laundry room is a place that usually isn't the cleanest place in the house and I try to keep mine as clean as I can (it rarely happens but hey I try,) anyways I hate it! I think I'm done ranting about something I don't see changing in the foreseeable future, with a husband that works VERY hard and isn't too handy with anything other than a vehicle/farm equipment. Well I can't find the pictures of what is looked like before I painted it grey and with the old windows so when I do I will post those until then here is what I do have.


I recently painted it (and by recent I mean SIX month ago... Shh I have two kids ok,) anyways and I just am not a big fan of the color so have been searching and searching to find something I want to do in there to make it an appealing place. It is hard with an ENTIRE wall full of appliances. UGH! Anyways, found an awesome idea over at http://theletteredcottage.net/mdf-from-true-value-in-the-house for the walls, which should be fairly inexpensive (not as cheap as paint, but hey when I have to go through 5 different gallons of paint to find a color that works in that room it will be cheaper!!)
Anyways it will just be a bunch of mdf boards painted white and hanging horizontally... YAY!!! I also have to change the flooring your can't really see the floor in any of the above pictures, but it is a horrible pebble type floor. Whoever decided on that flooring had NO intention on cleaning it EVERY because you CAN'T... umm YUCK! I would love to put real hardwood in there, but I already don't like it trough-out the rest of the house (oh yeah and it is spendy,) so I just plan to use a stick on vinyl plank that looks like wood like they used here http://www.thehouseofsmiths.com/2011/02/master-bathroom-peel-and-stick-wood.html . I just love the look of this style and color
Those are the big projects I have planned! I eventually want to put up fun burlap window coverings, put in a neat shoe bench, and some "C's" all over the wall that's in the first picture, and cover the deep freeze somehow!! Oh ideas, ideas... I plan to document the project as I go don't be alarmed if it takes a few months, but I can't wait to get busy!! Yay!

A Mess

Today was one of those days. It has been pretty yucky for a few days and Orrin got stir crazy. He decided to take his containers full of toys (neatly organized beforehand,) and dump them all onto the floor to create some type of ... well, MESS!!! Leila thoroughly enjoyed having all the toys dumped out as she was able to play with ones she usually can't reach. Orrin also managed to get two bloody noses (which I have no photo evidence of due to the fact that blood was EVERYWHERE,) and Leila cut her lip. However, I found that it was easy to occupy them with two matching water bottles that the drank out of, but watered everything in my house with!! OHH MOMMY HOOD! Today was one of those days where I was excited for bed time!!

Orrin Meets the Dentist

I decided to take Orrin into the dentist for a few different reasons. First I wanted to make sure he understood why we needed to have some strange man look at his teeth and he had some yellowing behind his front bottom teeth. Many of you may know my sister-in-law, Crystal, is a dental hygienist and a darn good one at that, but I wasn't quite sure how Orrin was going to be on his first visit and didn't want him to associate that pure fear with his aunt. So off to Children's Dentistry we went knowing they dealt with small children all day long I wasn't to worried that my child would be the only screaming one in the whole office! I dropped Leila off with my mom and decided to make this a fun day so maybe, just maybe I could get him to go again. He was so excited when we walked through the doors and there were TVs with movies playing, a pac-man table, and a little room filled with toys quickly making himself at home. His name was called and we headed on back so the dentist to count his teeth (I kept telling him you have to let the dentist count your teeth, he would say alright!) At first he was so excited to sit in the big boy chair and climbed right up, but as soon as the dentist came in he wasn't having it. I brought the camera hoping I could get more shots and boy was I wrong. Dr. Young was able to look at his teeth real quick, brush fluoride all over Orrin's teeth as well as his face, and enjoy A LOT of screaming. He let me know his teeth looked just great, but he may show a little crowding once his two year old molars finally come in. I am glad to report even though Orrin was screaming the entire time, there was a little girl (about five years old,) next to us who kept yelling, "I HATE YOU," so at least he wasn't the only kid and at least I didn't walk out of there knowing my son was yelling hatred to the dentist. We shall hope his next visit at around 3-3.5 years won't be so terrifying for the little man. I then decided to take him to enjoy one of Jamba Juice's new veggie/fruit smoothies and a trip to Barnes and Noble to pick out a book. We spent over 45 minutes in Barnes and Noble just picking out and flipping trough different books, he LOVE it.

In Children News...

Orrin and Leila have grown so much in the last few months. It is crazy how quickly it goes. I can hardly remember Leila as a newborn baby, let alone Orrin. He is such a great big brother and loves his sister so much. We have been trying to get him to go on the big boy potty and recognize that he needs to go, and he does really well when we are at home. He loved to wear his Buzz Lightyear underwear and will bring them to me first thing in the morning. I usually will put him in a diaper right before his nap and for bed time as we haven't started working on night time potty. He has started to talk so well and form really good sentences. He loves to say his prayers and night and read his books. He is the worst eater I know (still weighs 34 lbs though... pretty good for a non-eater,) I try so hard to get him to eat but he just refuses to try new things. I have tried everything and he is slowly getting better, but I have a feeling I will fight this forever! He loves movies, really any movie that he can some what grasp or has kids and/or animals in it. Just a few of his favorites are The Secondhand Lions, Little Rascals, Toy Story, and the new favorite is Megamind. He has also started to realize that some things scare him in movies and he will hide under his blanket. He is such a spitting image of Todd in every aspect. He loves to be outside, loves loaders and daddy's truck, and loves showing everyone how fast he can run. I love Orrin so much and he loves to tell us how much he loves us as well.

As for my sweet little Leila she has grown WAY too fast. She is now almost nine months old and I feel terrible for slacking so much on this blog. Within the last few months she has started to do so many fun things. Just tonight she started to say "MAMA," and it makes me so happy to hear her say it. I am hoping when she wakes up tomorrow she will remember who her favorite is and say it again in front of Todd (I'm just kidding, she lights up every time he comes home!) She has been crawling since New Year's Eve, and standing and walking along furniture since we left for Mexico. I really don't want her to walk, but know its coming because anything she can use to push across the house while walking she does. She loves Orrin so much, and gives him so many kisses throughout the day. She is very affectionate and very much a little girl as far as feelings are concerned. She will have to learn to be pretty tough skinned around all of the Capps' cousins though! She is a wonderful eater and eats ANYTHING!! She loves green beans (just like daddy,) and anything that we are eating she wants. She has even started to make like grunting, "MMM," sound when we aren't fast enough. She is bottle-fed now and will down a 10 oz. bottle in nothing flat. I have had to buy a can of formula every week, I don't remember every buying that much with Orrin. She weighs about 18 lbs 2 oz and is pretty tall for being so petite. She has the sweetest little features, and has started to look so much like Orrin, (darn I thought for sure she would look like me!!) She is finally beginning to get her hair back; however, much lighter than it was when she was born. You can also now see her tiny birthmark on the base of hairline. Little Leila has brought such a calm and sweet spirit into our home and I love her dearly.
I am so grateful for being in trusted with the care of this two sweet kids. They are such light in a life of such darkness. I enjoy watching them grow individually and build a strong bond as siblings. I never though my love could grow more that what I felt for them the day they were born, but it has grown in so many ways and with such multitude! I hope to post more regularly and post some decent pictures when I get them off my laptops hard drive. With that I leave you with a cute little picture of the kids cuddling.

Mexico

Leaving for Mexico was so hard, as it was two years ago when we went without Orrin. I knew that Orrin would enjoy his time with my parents, but I was nervous about Leila. However, I think it was harder for me than it was them we left as she slept and I cried as soon as I got to the door. We drove up to Boise the night before and got to have a lovely time with Todd's cousins, got up early the next morning to catch our flight. We arrived in Cabo and enjoyed our first day there and that night the fun began. Todd had been feeling a lot of pressure in his head and had a hard time breathing without it hurting. I knew he had strep throat but he didn't believe me. We were in Mexico so I had just planned to run down to one of the many pharmacies you see and grab some Z-Pack, but we were told you now had to have a prescription for that (A LIE) so we figured he would just tough it out like he does at home. Well after a night of shivering and not being able to get warm we decided to call in a doctor (so scary) it only cost $60 and they doctor came to our room, opened up his fishing tackle tote, listened to Todd's lungs, looked at his throat, wrote a prescription, and left us without telling us what was wrong. I quickly got the prescription filled and babied my sweet husband hoping for a quick recovery. It only took three days, but finally Todd was able to leave our room and do something, even if he still wasn't feeling that great. We ate WAY too much food (poor Toddey couldn't taste it,) caught little scampering crabs as they tried to get back to their holes, and enjoyed our time without having to change a diaper (ok I enjoyed that since I change the diapers, but still!) I am so grateful for the opportunity of going down there (Thanks Dennis and Sandra,) and that we got to do it without the kids (thanks mom and dad,) it is so nice to kind of recharge our batteries both as individuals and as a couple!

A Christmas post in March??

Christmas was a wonderful time around our house. Orrin really understood Christmas this year and his excitement made it all worth it. I don't have pictures of our Christmas because my laptop broke, but I hope I hope to get to post them soon. It was so fun to watch him open all of his gifts and the excitement on his face. Leila also enjoyed her time, especially with the wrapping paper. It has been fun watching her with her toys we got her a few months ago and how much she really does love them. Todd's and my parents spoiled us this year. We got a trip to Mexico (another post all together) and my parents bought us a blu-ray/3d/Internet capable player as well as Netflix... I LOVE IT!!! I've been getting the combo packs that include the blu-ray discs for a while now, because with a coupon they end up cheaper so we have a pretty decent collection we can watch on our player now. Todd got me a wonderful digital camera and I got him some much needed church clothes and a few other things I can't remember (definitely not as cool as his Transformers last year!!) We really enjoyed our holidays and are very grateful for the family we have to celebrate it with. I will post pictures soon I hope!!
